Encuentro Milonguero Albuquerque started out as Siempre Milonguero in 2010 when a group of dancers met to discuss creating an organization to encourage and advertise encuentros hosted nationwide. The Siempre organizers hosted Albuquerque’s first Encuentro in 2011. The group then split the organization in two, with Siempre Milonguero continuing to promote all encuentros in the U.S. via their website and monthly newsletter, and Encuentro Milonguero ABQ focused on hosting encuentros in Albuquerque. After 2011 we hosted encuentros in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023.

Encuentro Milonguero ABQ is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization. The current Board Member/organizers are Marjorie Devon, Leslie Jones, Karen Reck, and Gail Womack.

We wish to thank our retired members, Garth Bawden, the late Elaine Bawden, Sarah Bradley, and Tom Clark, for their years of commitment to EMAbq.
