We are delighted to have scheduled these talented DJs (originally booked for EMAbq 2020).
Caroline Peattie brings her years of experience and an understanding of the music that social dancers can never get enough of — familiar, time-tested arrangements of songs and coherent tandas. An Encuentro, and by extension a milonga, is a journey wherein we travel, meet old and new friends, and wear down the soles of our shoes. A good deejay knows that the dancers are the key to the success of the proceedings and strives only to be a trusted and reliable guide that you might not even notice, who offers continuity and support to your connection to the music and to your myriad dance partners.
Greg Gee started dancing tango in 2005 and quickly grew to love it. His style brings great musicality and virtuosity to the dance floor both leading and following. His love and connection to the music led him into DJing. Greg is a local favorite in San Diego and festivals, including Tucson, Denver, and Albuquerque. He strives to listen to every detail to create positive energy as noticed by dancers. Dancers appreciate learning about the music played via a display plug-in he wrote.
Marcelo Rosensaft was born in Uruguay and has been living in Israel since 1977, where he has been DJing since 2011. He is not only a DJ, but also a devoted milonguero. Marcelo DJs for regular milongas as well as large events, including encuentros, milongas, and marathons in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. During his last South American visit he played at milongas both in Buenos Aires and Montevideo. He is also the official DJ of the U.S. Tango Championship, held yearly in California. While he may start with a pre-arranged playlist, he makes sure that the music matches the situation on the dance floor and the ambiance of the milonga. His music is traditional and well-balanced, maintaining a constant energy flow along the evening.
Michelle McRuiz has been a tango DJ for 11 years. She has danced Argentine tango for 14 years and has done some form of dance since the age of 9. Michelle combines her deep love for golden-age tango music, innate musicality, and trustworthy ear to create tandas that flow, build energy, and keep pulling dancers back onto the floor. She DJs regularly at milongas and practicas in Albuquerque and Santa Fe and has been a popular DJ at festivals, marathons, encuentros, and various milongas in New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, California, Texas, Idaho, and England.
